to step back, now and then, from the possible to take rest in the impossible: to stand without trajectory in the God-given weather till the soul's identity begins to come with the weathering: to get off my own laboriously cleared and maintained trails and back onto the pristine hence unmarked path by moving, any old how, toward interior nakedness; toward silence; toward what Buddhists call "emptiness" and the Christians "poverty in spirit"....David James Duncan

...I came into this world,
free by nature,
in the image of God,
I was nevertheless the prisoner of my own violence and my own selfishness,
in the image of the world into which I was born.
That world was the picture of Hell,
full of men like myself,
loving God and yet hating Him;
born to love Him,
living instead in fear and hopeless self-contradictory hungers...

The Alchemist...love it...read it while I was living in England and then I tried to read it in spanish while I was in Honduras, but gave up...it is a great story, with little snipets of soul moving truth.

this is kind-of fun to communicate somewhere in the middle of cyperspace...like these little notes in a bottle or something.
I'm sick, sick, sick this weekend with a wicked head cold, but I went out anyway both nights! Salsa dancing on friday and to a birthday on sat. Today was a beautiful, slow day with pancakes, friends and a good book. Oh, and a crazy beautiful sunset over the olympic mountains (the oppressive clouds broke for a blessed half hour!)
So here's the big question--when do i get to see some weeman original material on here?! I'll keep checkin in...and loving getting to take advantage of all the amazing authors you follow ;)
